Water Tower Project

March 4, 2021

Dear Residents,

The Town of Abita Springs is excited to announce it will begin a much-needed maintenance and repair project on the water system infrastructure. This project was schedule for 2020 however, it was put on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions and the threat of several hurricanes this past summer. We are now able to begin!

The Abita Springs Water Tower Maintenance and Repair Project is scheduled to begin on March 8, 2021 and expected to be completed by March 19, 2021. For the work to be completed the water tower will need to be emptied and taken offline. We want residents and customers to know that the Town of Abita Springs has gone to great measures to ensure that you will continue to have the same quality of water and pressure as prior to work beginning. However, it is possible we may experience a minor loss in pressure during peak usage. Should unforeseen circumstances cause a significant loss in pressure or if the water quality is compromised in any way you will be notified immediately to take precautions to boil your water. Once work is completed, the water system operators will submit investigative samples to Louisiana Department of Health Laboratory to ensure the water tower is safe to resume use.

It is of the utmost importance that the Town of Abita Springs provides safe, high quality drinking water to both residents and customers. We appreciate your patience during this project.

In addition, the Town of Abita Springs is required to give public notification regarding a violation it received for failure to notify LDH that the above project would not be completed within the initial timeframe stated in a letter of response. It is extremely important for you to know that the Abita Springs Water Supply was never compromised in quality or safety.

Sincerely,

Town of Abita Springs
