SCAM ALERT: Fraudulent Emails Impersonating the Town of Abita Springs Planning Department

The Town of Abita Springs has been made aware of fraudulent emails being sent to residents and contractors that falsely appear to originate from the Town's Planning and Zoning Department.

These emails are attempting to collect large payments related to planning reviews, permits, or Certificates of Appropriateness and may include requests for wire transfers or other payment instructions.

Please be advised:

• The Town of Abita Springs only conducts official business through authorized Town email addresses ending in @abitaspringsla.gov.

• The email address [email protected] is NOT affiliated with the Town of Abita Springs and is being used fraudulently.

• The Town does not accept wire transfers for permit or application fees.

• Certificate of Appropriateness and Historic application fees do not exceed $100.

• The Town will never require applicants to communicate exclusively by email regarding payment matters.

If you receive an email requesting payment, especially one involving a wire transfer, unusually high fees, or an unfamiliar email address, do not respond, do not send payment, and do not open any attachments.
