Update 1

BOIL WATER ADVISORY

Town of Abita Springs

April 27, 2026 3:45 P.M.

We are aware of the current town-wide water outage and have issued a precautionary boil water advisory affecting all residents who pay the Town of Abita Springs for water service. Some areas are currently experiencing no water service, while others are dealing with very low water pressure. Our water system team has been alerted and is actively working to identify the cause and restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

What you need to do:
• Boil all water for at least 1 minute before drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth
• Avoid using unboiled tap water for consumption
• Water may be used for bathing with caution

This is a town-wide precautionary advisory. For those who currently have water, or once service is restored, please continue to boil water prior to consumption.

This advisory will remain in effect until bacteriological sample results confirm that the water is safe to drink. Results are typically available within approximately 24 hours once received by the lab.

We understand how disruptive this is and appreciate your patience while crews work to resolve the issue.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Water System Update

The Town of Abita Springs has successfully opened the connection with Utilities Inc. of Louisiana (UIL) as of approximately 10:30 a.m. today. This connection is now supplying water to the Town’s distribution system.

Residents may notice temporary turbulence or slight discoloration as the system adjusts. During periods of high usage, residents may also notice slight changes in water pressure. This is normal and should clear as water moves through the lines.

We will continue to monitor the system closely and provide updates as needed.

Thank you for your patience.

12:30 PM

Dear Residents,

The Town of Abita Springs will soon be connecting the entire municipal water system to our secondary water supply via the new connection to UIL (Utilities Inc. of Louisiana), providing a backup source of water for our system. Residents on the Town system may notice temporary water turbulence or discoloration during this connection.

This step is part of a planned inspection of the primary well, which will be temporarily shut down to assess its condition and ensure the long-term reliability of the Town’s water supply.

Water remains safe to use. Currently, there is no expectation of a precautionary boil water advisory, but in the unlikely event that water pressure drops, residents will be notified through our website, Facebook, email and signage.

⚠️ This work does not affect residents on private wells or non-Town water systems.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. For updates, visit https://www.townofabitasprings.com/abitawater.

Sincerely,

Town of Abita Springs
