The storm is going ashore at Pascagoula, MS. We seem to have been spared. Please keep the people that are being affected in your thoughts and prayers.

Attn Residents St. Tammany Parish has issued a Level 3 Monitoring Phase of their Tropical Storm and Hurricane Plan. We will have a couple of Public Works men staying through the night. We will also be monitoring the phone. STPSO is doubling up the deputies for the next 2 shifts.

The Town's Facebook page, website and Town Sign will be updated as needed. Also, please monitor the National Weather Service and local media outlets for detailed information.

TS Gordon is still expected to strengthen into a category 1 hurricane today before landfall on the northern Gulf Coast tonight/early Wednesday morning. Threats will include strong/damaging winds, coastal flooding and heavy rainfall, with the main impacts occurring across areas generally east of I-55.

Potential for winds of 70-80 mph mainly across the MS Coast. 40-70 mph for other areas generally along/east of I-55, 25-40 mph elsewhere. Coastal inundation of 3 to 5 feet possible along the open coast from Shell Beach across the Mississippi Coast with 2 to 4 feet from the mouth of the Mississippi River to Shell beach and 1 to 2 feet in the tidal lakes and west of the Mississippi River. Rainfall totals of 4-8 inches is possibly mainly along Mississippi coast. Generally, 1-3 inches elsewhere. Higher amounts will be possible wherever rain bands set up and lead to prolonged heavier rainfall over specific areas.

Tropical Storm Gordon is still forecast to continue on a northwesterly track, impacting the northern Gulf Coast late tonight through Wednesday. It’s a strong tropical storm and still forecast to become a minimal hurricane before landfall. A Hurricane Warning is remains in effect for the Mississippi Coast. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for all other areas along and east of a line from Grand Isle to Denham Springs to McComb.

Storm Surge Tides are already higher than normal and will continue to rise 3-5 ft of inundation possible along open coast from Shell Beach eastward to MS/AL border 2-4 ft inundation is possible along open coast from Mississippi River eastward to Shell Beach 1-2 ft of inundation possible along shores of Lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas and along the open coast west of the Mississippi River

Heavy Rain Rainfall totals of 4-8 inches is possible mainly along Mississippi coast with isolated higher amounts in rain bands. Heaviest rain will fall this afternoon through Wednesday.

Attn Residents: Due to the possibility of upcoming weather from TS Gordon, sand and sandbags are available outside the gate at the Maintenance Barn at the end of Orme St.

Please take time today to make your preparations at home for rain and minimal winds. Please check your ditches and culverts in anticipation of rain.

St. Tammany Parish to Begin Sandbag Distribution at Five Locations, Monday, September 3rd

Pat Brister, St. Tammany Parish President, announced St. Tammany Parish will distribute sandbags at the following locations on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 8 a.m. – 6p.m., and Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

  • St. Tammany Parish Government- Building C 21410 Koop Dr., Mandeville

  • St. Tammany Parish Public Works- Airport Road Barn 34783 Grantham College Rd., Slidell

  • St. Tammany Parish Public Works- Covington Barn 1305 N. Florida St., Covington

  • St. Tammany Parish Public Works- Fritchie Barn 63119 Highway 1090 in Pearl River

  • St. Tammany Parish Public Works Barn- Keller Barn 63131 Fish Hatchery Road, Lacombe
