so we do not have to issue a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory.
Press Release
October 2, 2019, 11:30 A.M.
The Town of Abita Springs would like to ask residents to please conserve water this Friday, October 4, 2019. We are making scheduled repairs to the well, on Hwy. 36, including changing a seal, stuffing box and shaft. The Town’s well supplies most residents and businesses in the corporate limits of Abita Springs with water. The repairs are expected to begin at 9:00AM and finish around 4:00PM.
Due to the work required for this project, the Abita Springs well will not be pumping water into our water tower. In order to maintain pressure in our water system and avoid a precautionary boil water advisory, the water pressure must remain above 20 psi. We are encouraging residents to conserve water to maintain an adequate water supply and ensure fire protection reserves during this shutdown period.
Our water tower will be at capacity at the start of the repairs and we do have a backup water source. We do not foresee any issues arising but as a precaution we are asking that our community please conserve water.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For more information and updates, please visit our website townofabitasprings.com, our Facebook page, or call (985) 892-0711.
