UPDATED: PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY
BOIL WATER ADVISORY
TOWN OF ABITA SPRINGS
PWS_ID # 1103002
2-15-17
For Immediate Release to Water System Customers
The Town of Abita Springs PWSID #1103002 has experienced a loss of water pressure. The loss is due to a water main break on Haynes Ave.
Because of these problems, the water produced by our water supply system may be of questionable microbiological quality.
Therefore, as a precaution, we are issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately for the entire Town of Abita Springs. This BOIL ADVISORY to remain in effect until rescinded by the Town of Abita Springs.
It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
The Town of Abita Springs will rescind this Boil Water Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health that the water sample collected from our water supply system has shown our water to be safe.
The results of the water testing will take about 24 hours to obtain and will be posted on the Town of Abita Springs website. Should you have any questions or are unable to access a computer, please contact us at (985) 892-0711 or (504) 214-7777. The Town of Abita Springs does apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
This Precautionary Boil Water Advisory has been issued by Mayor Greg Lemons.
