Engineering Projects Update- January 2019

Andre Monnot Sewer Rehabilitation Program: Gravity Collection Rehabilitation Project is 75% design complete. Entirety of identified defects within overflow-prone basins will be within budget. Approach to isolated issues is being reviewed to maximize the area of Town treated. Lift Station Rehabilitation Project is 25% design complete, opinion of construction cost remains within $1,799,700 budget. Design completion is anticipated by April 2019. Construction contingency of $100,900 is held in reserve. Utility GIS Survey is complete, computer GIS layer generation is in progress. Damaging wind speeds should be the main concern but a tornado or two and hail cannot be ruled out. *NEW: Wind advisory for sustained winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph has been issued across most of metro New Orleans (south shores of Lakes Pontchartrain and Borgne) and southeast Louisiana coastal areas. Gale warnings are now in effect across the marine area for sustained winds near 30 knots and gusts around 40 knots

Christmas Tree Recycling Program for 2019

Christmas Tree Recycling Program for 2019 Christmas trees for the recycling marsh restoration program will be picked up in the Town of Abita Springs on Saturday 1-19-19. Only bare, green trees will be picked up for the land restoration project. Trees NOT ACCEPTED for this program include flocked trees, trees with ornaments, or trees in wrapping. Water Leak-Repaired

11:30AM Attn Residents: The Town's Public Works Department is working on locating a water leak on the north side of Barque Place. They are waiting for One Call to come and mark the lines. They will have to turn the water off once the leak is located. Updates will be posted as they become available. 12:30 Water Update The water lines have been marked. Christmas Trees Recycling Program

St. Tammany Parish Government will Accept Christmas Trees for Recycling St. Tammany Parish Government will begin accepting Christmas trees to recycle for use in a cooperative effort with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to rebuild the Big Branch Marsh. Trees can be brought to the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds at 1515 North Florida Street in Covington and The Old Levee Board Property at 61134 Military Road in Slidell, during daylight hours. Trees must be stripped of all decorations —ornaments, lights, tinsel, etc. and the stands must be removed completely to be eligible for the program. Flocked trees cannot be accepted at the drop-off sites as they cannot be used for the project.
