Abita Springs Garage Sale

The Abita Springs Whole Town Garage Sale is one of the Louisiana's largest garage sale events. In 1994 the idea for the Whole Town sale from Abita Springs resident John Preble. Each year in the Spring hundreds of people in the Abita Springs area all have their garage sale on the same day in March. If you enjoy garage sales and flea markets, please come. If you enjoy the ambiance of a small town celebration, please come.

EarthFest

Get out your favorite green shirt, put on your dancing and playing shoes, and come to the Abita Trailhead for some fun! Evette and the Friends of the Park will be serving up festival food, and green vendors and active demonstrations will keep you entertained.  The 2016 Music lineup includes The Footsteps- Youth Jazz Band made up of 9 local students with 5 from Abita Springs, Cajun Dance lesson- featuring Northshore Cajun Dance Club President Bill Weissborn, Gina Forsyth and the Mid-City Aces- regarded as the greatest Cajun fiddler in Louisiana, and Washboard Chaz Blues Trio- rollicking party blues!

 

Busker Fest

For those of you who are not familiar with the term, Buskers are musicians who perform on the streets for tips. This is one of the most popular and well attended outdoor events in Abita, the event includes live music, great food, drinks, and an arts and crafts village with works by regional artists. The buskers have made it their business to learn traditional New Orleans Jazz, Country and other "roots" genres. Read more at www.AbitaOpry.org  The lineup for the 2016 Busker Festival includes, The Bad Pennies Pleasure Makers, The Loose Marbles, Blue City Strutters, Shotgun Jazz Band, The Deslondes and Tuba Skinny.

En Plein Air

Painters in Southeast Louisiana have taken to the outdoors for the annual art outing that culminates in an exhibition homage to the tradition of plein air painting. The Annual En Plein Air Art Exhibition, featuring landscape paintings created in Abita Springs and elsewhere in St. Tammany Parish. Artists will display the result of their direct expressions of nature, “En Plein Air,” an art exhibition sponsored by the Abita Springs Trailhead Museum.

 

Louisiana Bicycle Festival

This loosely organized gathering of bicycle lovers draws visitors from seven states to the piney north shore community of Abita Springs. It features swaps, sales, a group ride, and hundreds of custom and antique bikes.

 

Water Festival

For over a hundred years, People have flocked to Abita Springs to sip our free-flowing, artesian waters.  The Abita Springs Water Festival celebrates the water, culture and heritage that flows from one of Louisiana’s most unique towns. Proceeds benefit our local civic organizations who service our community.
